Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information GeekyPeepo ("we", "us", "the site") handles when you visit geekypeepo.com, what third parties do on the site, and the choices you have. We have kept it as short and plain as we can.

This policy is about the website. The NoPeep Chrome extension has its own, separate privacy policy.

The short version

• You don't need an account to use the site, and we don't ask you for personal information to read it.
• We don't run a newsletter, comments, or sign-up forms.
• The site shows ads from Google AdSense, and some articles embed YouTube videos. Google and YouTube may use cookies and similar technologies when those load. Details are below.

Information we receive

Information you send us. If you email us at hi@geekypeepo.com, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to improve the site, and we don't share it.

Server and hosting data. Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) processes technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose problems.

Cookies and local storage

• Theme preference. If you switch between night and day mode, your choice is saved in your own browser's local storage so the site remembers it. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.
• Advertising cookies. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies or use similar technologies to show and measure ads. See "Advertising" below.
• YouTube cookies. Embedded YouTube videos may set cookies when the player loads or when you play a video. See "Embedded content" below.

You can control or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may mean ads or videos don't load.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads on the site. This is how GeekyPeepo pays for itself.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's previous visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• Depending on where you are, you may be shown a consent message asking you to accept or manage cookies used for advertising and measurement.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or by visiting www.aboutads.info to opt out of personalized advertising from participating third-party vendors.
• You can learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

We do not control the cookies set by Google or other third parties, and we do not have access to them.

Embedded content

Some articles embed videos from YouTube. When a YouTube player loads, YouTube (a Google service) may receive information such as your IP address and set cookies, according to Google's Privacy Policy.

Links to other websites

Articles link to other websites, tools and services. Some of those links pass through go.geekypeepo.com, our own short-link domain, before reaching the destination. We don't control other sites and aren't responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.

Affiliate links

Currently none of the links on GeekyPeepo are affiliate links. If we add affiliate links in the future, we will update this policy and clearly label the pages that contain them.

Children

GeekyPeepo is a general-audience site and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. The only personal information we typically hold is email correspondence. To exercise a right, email hi@geekypeepo.com. For advertising choices, use the Google settings and consent controls described above.

How long we keep information

We keep emails only as long as needed to respond and to keep a record of corrections. Hosting logs are kept by our hosting provider for the period set by that provider.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes, for example if we add a newsletter or affiliate links. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised.
